They had the auto in 90's as well, but only on the 2.0 and 1.8 Non turbo cars.

But yes, in 91 they started putting the auto in the FWD Turbo and AWD cars.

I test drove one a long time ago.. The guy had nitrous hooked up in a 420a auto, and the thing was doggy!@ Not to mention putting a 50 shot of nitrous to that motor would be like putting a kick me sign on your own back..
