I was driving my eclipse around town today to get out and let it run for a bit and at a stoplight I see smoke coming from under my hood. I think to my self... Oh shit, what the hell happened now... and I pulled off into a parking lot and popped the hood. When I opened the hood there was smoke coming from down by the o2 housing on the turbo and upon further inspection I couldn't really draw a conclusion as to what is causing the smoke. It's a EvoIII 16G turbo, it looks like there could be a couple spots where bolts go in but by the looks of it they aren't used for anything. Any suggestions?

Any grease, anti seize, oil or anything on them? How long have you been driving it?

There is no grease or anything that I can see, there may be some oil that I am over looking but I don't see any, and today is the first day the car has been driven down the road. I have driven the car around the block a few times but today was the first time the car was even driven over a mile.

It should burn off in 15 minutes just go check fluids make sure your not losing any. Probably first time it was up to temp. Probably just spilled oil or something.

Alright, but this smoke was just like billowing out. When the car was in idle the smoke was clearly visible and there was quite a bit of it.

loose line of coolant or oil perhaps? there is many damn lines on these cars. I replaced all the rubber hoses that had coolant in them. I missed 2 behind the ;;;oil filter and those ended up breaking on me today. point being change em all

This video shows what was happening with Dizzums Dizzum; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9ar8c9zi8o
Solution: Blown turbo seals, that being said, whats the best way to go about finding/ replacing the seals for an EvoIII 16G?

So its burning oil right? Real 16g?

Well when I bought the car the seller said it was an EvoIII 16G turbo, although I cannot be absolutely sure it is an EvoIII Or Ebay 16G. When I took apart the car there was things that were true like the Eagle H-Beams and Wiseco Pistons but there were also questionable things that I wasn't sure about, including the turbo. Do you know of any good way to determine if its an EvoIII or Ebay? It is for sure a 16G though. And its burning oil and my buddy TSIguy showed me that video last night and that's exactly what it's doing so I am certain that it is blown seals.

Problem Fixed! :) Loose oil coolant line to the turbo housing was the culprit so I tightened it up and there has been no smoke for 2 days.
