i have a 97 gst and i think i have crank walk. it has a load ticking when the clutch is pressed in but as i release the clutch it gets quieter and slows down, and as i get going it goes away for a few 7 seconds then comes back. some please help me i love my car an wanna get it back on the road

throw out bearing or crank walk!

Does your clutch pedal stick at all when going around left or right hand corners?

If you wana do the swap I have a complete 6 bolt block I'd sell....also have the complete head too if needed

its going to be in colfax getting worked on.. towing it there so not to cuz more damage. how much can u get a bottom end for?

nope no sticking of the clutch at all.
If you wana do the swap I have a complete 6 bolt block I'd sell....also have the complete head too if needed
love to so a 6 bolt swap just dont have the money for that :(

6 bolt swap would actually cost less, because it easier to find and all you'll need is the complete long block. And wire up the CAS or buy one that already made. Oh and your going to need the flywheel also.

problem with that is, is the guy doing my work isnt that filmuar with 6bolts, and whats CAS cost?

Did you even check to see if there is end play in the crank? It only takes about 30 seconds.

just grab the harmonic balancer and pull back and forth,or a pry bar between the balancer and timing cover

the motor is still bolted into the car and hooked up to the tranny

Doesn't matter. Just put the car up on jackstands or ramps, crawl under it and put a screwdriver or pry bar in between the harmonic dampener and pry on on it and pull horizontally on it to see if it moves. Actually you don't even need to jack the car up. Just turn the steering wheel counter clockwise and reach under there. That's how my buddy checked to see if there was end play on my 99 before I bought it (even though we knew it had the split thrust bearing and chances were very small that it had crankwalked). It only takes literally 30 seconds to check.

that sounds great.lol.in my experience iv heard videos of engines that sounded like they were blown but iin person you dont here anything except exhaust leaks.thats prolly somthing a bit more serious then that though

when both my 2g's crankwalked i never had clutch sticking or nuthing..it just would idle/run like shit and a few days before it was done for good you could feel a slight vibrating.

thankd for the imput got the motor being tore apart right now

dont get any of that but its nasty sounding

crankwalk pre much sounds like loose/squealing berrings. that, hate to say it, sounds like a rod.

we were trying to cut cornors and found out the hard way u cant do that. car is back together and running better then before!
