Hi guys and gals!
ok i have been searching around for a few days, but its a bit harder to find info on spyders... so please bare with me!
Ok, here we go..
Right, so i Bought a Spyder body. The car was origionally a N/A 4g64 2.4. well the owner before i bought the car fried the engine from oil starvation. so he started to swap in a 1g 4g37 N/A!! (um, why would you want 92HP in a spyder?!?! i dont get it..) well, the car was half way through the swap, when the pervous owner gave up. So this is where i get to start. The car has a 4g37 ecu and wiring harness, 4g37 engine and 5 speed trany.... so i have a few questions here

My plans are this!
-6 bolt 4g63T, boosted to stock pressures, maybe a littel more..
-5 speed manual
-FWD for now, AWD later.
i wanna get the car back to stock as much as possible for now...
___Questions.___
1. When i drop in a 6 bolt 4g63t, will the 4g37 5 speed trany fit on the 6 bolt, or will i need a new 2g turbo trany.?
2. Will a 97-99 eclipse gst ecu and wiring harness work with my setup or do i need to have the 1999 eclipse spyder gst manual ECU?? i know i need to do the fring order swap, and CAS rewire, anything else?
3. I have heard that eclipse GS c.v. axles are smaller than turbo models have. Is this true, and do i need to convert somehow?
I built a GSX this summer, so i know what im doing for the most part... but this car is.... just wow... hack job much? lol ill get some pics up if you all wanna pick and prod at em!
Thanks!
Tanner

Question 2 is a little confusing to me. If you have a 98-99 black plastic cased ECU, just reflash it to whatever ROM file you need to have on the ECU.

FWIW the f5m23 NT tranny should actually work but you may need a different pilot bushing. It will handle some abuse with stock turbo power but not much beyond that.

Dizzm's old Galant was set up this way though that had a w5m23 which is only really different in that is has an output for a transfer case.

Edit: accidentally listed the w5m23 as a 33 which is the turbo tranmission.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt that the same transmission as the gst my friends 2.4 galant tranny looks identical.

It isn't the same transmission. The identification code is pretty simple. F for FWD, W for AWD, the first number is the number of gears, the second letter is manual or auto, the second number is torque capacity (unspecific/unitless) and the last number is revision/series.

They will have the same case but the innards are different.
