well i have been reaserching to see if a evo 8 fuel pump would do good in dsm's.
i read something about a relief valve that opens up under high pressure.

if i put a evo 8 pump in my car would i have to worry about the "relief" valve opening and cutting fuel or something like that?

The pump can only flow about 63psi before the relief valve that you're mentioning will open up and cut flow to almost nothing. What that really means is your base fuel pressure (about 38psi on a 1g) plus enough boost to hit that sort of additional fuel pressure so somewhere around 20psi of boost you would have so start becoming concerned.

I wouldn't bother putting an evo8 pump in a car but some people feel differently, and I especially wouldn't bother with putting one in a 1g where it isn't actually a drop in replacement. An evo9 fuel pump will flow just a bit better than a 190 and usually costs about the same. An evoX fuel pump flows very well but I'm not sure how easy it is to put in a 1g.

I believe the EVO8 pumps are good to about 24psi (on a 16g) until that relief valve opens. The EVO9 pump does not have the relief valve. Both pumps flow slightly more than a 190. I think I paid 40 bucks shipped for my used EVO9 pump I bought on the EVO forums.

Evo 9 would be better, they can be had very cheap. Few people i know have just throw them away. Depending how cheap you can get it and what your plans are is another story. Rewire it to.
