I don't have an evo, but I learned to tune myself. In then end you will gain so much more knowledge of how your car works, etc. And some some money!
What do you have for tuning currently?

your fmic is good till 400-500 hp so if your on a budget I would spend it elsewhere.

until then, not sure how much Red line will be able to do for you. You need at least those mods and a tuning device like stated above for them to play with.

ECUflash uses the stock ECU. Dont need anything but a tactrix cable which i'm sure they have.
The nice thing with an evo is you dont need to buy anything to get a tune.

The only people that i allow to touch the tuning on my cars is coty and luke from redline. yes you can learn to do it yourself, but if you're not careful it's very easy to screw up your motor badly. just my 2 cents.
Redline. Others can tune but it won't be as good as if it were tuned on a dyno.

i went to beyond a few years ago, really nice tune to my old talon, way better then what i could do. Don't know about evo's(to broke to get one) but i know i don't wanna f with the tune myself on my talon
I personally have gone to Beyond Redline for EVERY AEM tune on all my EVO'S and I host dyno days there anout once a year. They do great work and awesome tuning! I would recommend going there any day!

I've heard good things about Beyond...until today.
My co-worker was building his B16 for his Honda. What exactly he built it with I forget - but he didn't go cheap. Roughly 4k invested.
He had problems with his head "locking up" and I discovered he simply needed to bleed and prime his lifters. He then came to me the next day with a huge smile telling me how he got it running great.
Long story short I turned him and he's rockin' an red evo8 now.:D
So he sold the motor for a random guy for $4k installed.
Once he got the b16 in for the guy - the buyer told him his last motor wouldn't start because it had blown rings.(Found that hard to believe but meh, whatever maybe he fried the living shit out of it.)
After some investigation there were some cut/butchered ECU wiring.
It was not part of the agreement so my co-worker had the car towed to a shop, where they diagnosed it and wanted $1k to start re-wiring - no guarantee.
My co-worker declined, with that being said he doesn't have the time to re-wire the car. I believe he said the whole harness was somewhere between 500-800 from honda.
So the car has fuel, No spark, cranks over, good distributor(tested in another honda).
After enough messing around my co-worker recommended the buyer to beyond-redline.
The car sat there for a week with no attempted contact to let my co-worker what is going on(Being himself more car literate then the buyer). Today an individual from beyond claimed that he had tried to contact him and even left messages on his voicemail.
That is interesting because my co-worker got his I-phone two weeks ago and hasn't set up his voicemail. "Oh really let me check my messages."
Original quote from beyond was $1200.
Today told my co-worker's father who came to get the car. "The motor is knocking, you need a new engine that's why it won't start".
Hmm so you mean to tell me If i spun a rod it will cause a no-start (Unless the engine is obviously seized [U]but it cranks[/]U)
After some time of arguing etc. now they can get the engine to run - poorly/ stalling.
Now they want $400 dollars and refuse to tell my co-workers father what the problem was, what they diagnosed, and what they fixed.
Hey...understandable...I'm a tech too. If I'm chasing my ass on a car I want to get paid for the time I invested into it. But refuse to tell what the cause was or what i did? I'll be looking for a new job with that mentality. Get ****ed buddy.
After more arguing they tried sweet talking saying that it was $1300 for the original quote of re-wiring/replacing the engine loom harness so now $400 is almost like a sweet deal for a half-ass poorly diagnosed car.
At some point they offered to either buy/rebuild the engine. Which my co-worker believed they extended this offer to steal the goody internals and throw stockers back in. Or, just switch the engine all together from a parts car.
Luckily this is not my co-workers money...but the buyer of the engine who paid to have it swapped in.
My co-worker is the middle man trying to help someone out and in return is getting the shaft - why? Because it's easy on their half? Because the buyer is not intelligent enough to argue the facts? Because it would be easier to blame the guy who installed the motor -hence dropping the agreement all together and the problem would disappear for beyond redline.
I suppose this is why it's best to know people in the tuning/aftermarket business, or make it very clear you're not going to get handled like an candy-bearing red-headed 8 year-old at recess.
The facts flip flopped so many times I would take them to court if that was my money.
Nevermind, this is about Beyond Engineering.

Jeesus....BEEYOND Engineering is a totally different shop that is well known for these problems, and they are located in Milwaukee....
BEYOND REDLINE PERFORMANCE CENTER in Green Bay, WI -- owned by Luke Stubbs, is a totally different shop. www.beyondredline.com
I have been dealing with Luke for nearly a decade now, and have had excellent results EVERY TIME be it for dyno-tuning, engine assembly, custom fabrication, trouble-shooting, etc.
These guys know their stuff on nearly every aspect of Automotive Performance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Custom Fabrication, and Research and Development.
Beyond Redline is the ONLY shop that I trust with my car, and I recommend everyone to check them out, as they are a very high-quality shop with very fair pricing when being equally priced against the competition.
They also do ALOT more than just DSM's or Evo's -- they work on nearly every platform out there!

Right that's why I made the huge text differentiating between the two.
I apologize if that wasn't crystal clear for you at the end, perhaps a cookie will cheer you up.
My co worker just said "beyond". Well I'm not hardcore into Hondas so I've never heard of beeyond engineering. Excuse me for being ill informed, but it's nothing for you to get butt-hurt over.

Iv called them a few times for some technical questions and the guy that always answered the phone was a dumbass. "oh yeah we get lots of 4g64 cars all the time" and thats what he would always say when i tried reverting back to my questions. He wouldnt let me speak to someone else and couldnt tell me who own the joint. He always tried to sell me something and couldnt give me a diecent qoute for installing the rotating assembly, torque down the head, timing the engine and degreeing the cams. If my mind serves me right, he qouted me $1300 for just that. Slow Boy qouted me $600, but they are way in florida.

SlowBoyRacing is still in business. They should have been dissolved years ago. I'll never buy anything from that place ever.
