Hey guys, I just recently installed dsmlink V2 in my 97 TSI FWD. I have a 14b with stock injectors and fuel pump. The chip for dsmlink is a 950cc chip, I have my global set to 0 but I dont know what to set my deadtime at. So I just wondering if anyone knows what deadtime I need to use for my 450's and what other adjustment I should perform to make a good base tune for my car. Here is my mod list to give you a idea of what I have.
14b
Hard upper and lower ICP
1g BOV
Turbo Back 3in
Short Ram Intake
MBC
Boost Gauge.
Still stock injectors and Fuel pump
Currently running 15psi
Thanks

From what I had with a similar set-up, your Global should be set at -0.4 and deadtime should be 0.
Get a Walbro fuel pump or turn down your boost to 12 to 13psi till then.
You shouldn't have to do much with the link settings if your on a 14b with stock injectors, as far as fuel and timing go.

You'll be fine to run 15psi after you get his pump in.
Here's a good place to start researching http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/
Also, you should be able to get onto the ECULINK forums. Register and you'll find alot of info and people with good directions for you.

Alright now I have a new problem. So I have my global set to 0% and my deadtime also 0. Everything seems to run good so the other day I went for a ride and did some pulls and logged them. I checked my logs and at sometimes I had up to 4deg of knock. During a 3rd gear pull I would have knock anywhere between 0-4 deg knock. So I pulled some timing and added a little bit of fuel. Now I only run .7 degree of knock at most. The weird thing is that I had to pull timing from the stock timing. Any ideas what could be going on. Im running around 13-14 psi and from what I have heard I should not be hitting knock yet.

This could be a number of issues, what type of fuel are you running? What plugs are you running and what is the gap?
The stock 2g fuel map is pig rich, and the timing map is very conservative. I am surprised you don't get rich knock from adding fuel. This makes me think that there is a physical problem and not a tuning problem. Check your fuel filter and fuel pump, there are a number of things that could go wrong with the fuel system to make the car run lean.
Do you have your MAF calibrated? and tps adjusted, etc.
This is a fairly stock setup and link should be almost zeroed out across the board as far as fuel and timing goes.
If you really have some questions about the chip/program, you can email Thomas Dorris from ECMLink, he is great at helping out on simple things like this. Or jump on the link forums.
Also, can you post a log - I would be interested in seeing engine temps and tps volts.
