Well as the title says its broke :( and now the story behind the madness.

Well at about 4:00 pm on the 5-3-08 the talon was heading east bound on I-90 at about 70 mph when all of a suddenly my oil pressure gauge just went on the fritz like a Jamaican in a snow storm yea it was odd. well i spot a rest area ahead about 2 yards on mile marker eleven between Bangor and Sparta. so i am heading up the ramp to the rest station and about 100 ft before i stop the car it starts smoking like a Cheech and Chong movie. well i park the car asap and turn her off and then instantly try to poor my spare quart of oil into the belly of the beast. then to find out that there is currently a puddle of oil on the ground on the passenger side of the motor with the rest of the under-body sprayed with oil residue most of the way back yea it smelled great....

well after an hour of sitting and waiting for my dad to show with the trusty old subaru legacy station wagon it had plenty of time to cool down and for me to examine the car. well finally he got there with about 10 quarts of oil and we proceeded to poor about 4 quarts in there to see if we could find the leak well nothing happened at that point. so we proceeded to start the talon. well it cranked over but kinda hard and after 2 tries i got it to start with the use of the gas pedal but it sure did run rough. well we never did find where the oil was coming from other than the fact that there was a lot on the ground. so my thoughts are it could be the rear main seal that popped or the oil return line for the turbo.

so any thoughts as to what happened?

If it was the oil return line for the turbo, you should be able to see that leaking..

Don't try starting the thing..... Get that thing up on jackstands and see whats going on. Don't destroy it anymore.

nice choice. the only thing that sucks is its spring time, and overhauling an engine when you should really be out tearing up the streets.

oh well, shit happens. Check the oil return line, those are common to crack and leak. Does it only leak when the car is running? or does it also slowly leak when its not running?

well i haven't had time to get the car pulled into a garage at the moment but i will find out Tuesday for sure as to what it is that broke.

Yea it sucks that it broke when it did but i am still gonna try and make it to some events even if as a spectator.

I cant wait for the extra torque and a large turbo lol. to bad its gonna be hell on the trans lol ill figure something out in that department.

Well just a little update.

As i am trying to pull the cv shafts out of the car. The passenger side axle shaft/cv shaft is basically fused into my wheel bearing in my wheel hub so my question is does anyone know how hard it would be to get a axle shaft pressed from a wheel hub. The entire wheel hub and cv shaft are pulled from the car and are still one unit if you haven't figured that out already lol. Any suggestions would be great.

Good luck with that. I never got the axles out of the hubs on my 99 GST. 5lb sledge, air hammer, shop press, nothing worked. This is a very common problem, you might get lucky and get it out, but if you don't have too I wouldn't waste time doing it.

How much would new hub, wheel bearing and axle shaft go for as a package? yea i have done every thing you have so far with the exception of the shop press. But i could see where it would be a lot less of a headache just getting new or good used parts right about now.
