Bad turbo?

Ive never had a turbo go bad on me this might be the first.:confused:

Evo 3 16g (ported) 350 miles on the turbo.:mad:

The car smokes little during idle.

Starting it when the motor is warm it will puff out black smoke(oil).

some oil in the exhaust.

Under load the car smokes very badly smells of oil.

Found (some) oil in the Ic piping.

Car is Using alot of oil.

Checked compression Motor is still good also checked for blowby had none.


Any Ideas?

check for shaft play in the turbo.

Is your turbo return flowing good w/o any restrictions?

Checked the return line everything is fine there.

Did a compresison test got an average of 150Psi per cyl

Did a leakdown test everything was kosher there.

So i know its not the motor.

When im checking for shaft play what is the normal amount?

hardly any.

ok so i have shaftplay.

Was able to move the intake blade up and down, side to side.

pulled off the o2 housing was able to do the same with the exhaust wheel.

I have a t-25 that im going to install to get it on the road.
