Sunday night I fell down some stairs and ended up in the ER. Going over the symptoms I was having they tested me for and confirmed that I have diabetes. My blood sugar was so high that they decided to admit me and after more testing it was discovered that I also have bile duct cancer.
So I get home this morning and go out to the garage to get something and find the lock and handle broken on my garage door. Open the door and ALL of my tools are missing along with some misc household stuff. (Thank God my car wasn't in there) I call the police for insurance purposes knowing they wont be able to do anything then call my insurance and file a claim. I just heard back from them and they are denying my claim because the insurance I have only covers an 'attached' garage.
Sadly I think I am going to sell my eclipse and all the parts i have that i was waiting for warmer weather to install. the decision isnt an easy one because i love the car but it needs to much work that I dont have the tools for anymore, let alone the know how/energy to do it alone.
Anyway just thought i'd give everyone an update since I haven't posted since Sunday.

Holy shit that's awful news. Good thing is that cancer isn't nearly as big as it was 10 years ago and tools/parts can always be replaced. What type of diabetes? One kind just requires a pill while the other takes injections. Don't go nuts and sell everything you have, use the downtime to research and learn.

Type 2. The pills work with both type 1 and 2 it just depends on how bad it is. In my case pills arent enough to keep my blood sugar in check. They were going to have me use an insulin pump that I carried with me 24/7 that administered the insulin as i needed it. But the thought of carrying a pump around with me was to much. So I have to inject insulin 4 times a day totaling 150 units (1.5 cc's)
As far as the cancer, judging by the size they think ive had it for awhile. Good news is that it is operable and they can replace my ducts/tubes with artificial ones that actually are better than normal anatomy.
You're right about not selling my stuff, I dont think i'd ever forgive myself if i did lol. I was just really angry and depressed. After talking with the wife i've decided to keep it. I'll figure something out, whether its paying someone to build the car or hell maybe we can have a get together/install day sometime. Im sure i'll figure something out.

beer is all you need to get some guys together.
Sorry to hear the bad news, but look at it as if you didnt end up in the ER you wouldn't know anything and go on until you were really sick and then it probley would have been to late.
And if your not to far away from the Marshfield area we can always help you out with your DSM needs..
Get well and be safe!!

Thanks everybody for the support. The last few days i've spent with family and friends. Next week Tuesday is my surgery, expected to be a 6-7 hour procedure and only a 5 day hospital stay. I'll be glad when all of this is over and I focus on the eclipse again :)

wow, hope all works out well for you with the medical stuff, keep your head up.
as for your insurance company, i'd be persistant... your insurance agent should have sold you the correct insurance for your standalone garage. that is HIS fault you weren't covered, especially if you were paying for "attached garage insurance" and now you get nothing?? i'd call them back and work your way up the ladder. that's not right. it's your agents job to get you the correct insurance!! good luck with it though, insurance agents are about one step above a lawyer in most cases!
