firing problem.

I got a 91 tsi fwd. i have fuel spark and everything it needs to run but wont start. if i force gas into the intake it runs great. please give me any ideas you have to solve this problem. thanks!!!

fuel filter. fuel pump. injectors. fuel rail. any of the above.

i already checked the injectors and they spray fine but, do you think low fuel pressure could cause it to not fire.

and when we changed out the ecu it fired right up. but after shutting it off we couldnt get it to start again.

unplug ecu or disconnect battery and try again.

We tried that. Only got one bolt grounding the ecu and the one we tried is for a auto and it's a manual car. Would the ground have anything to do with it?

Any work done before this started happening? Was there anything visibly wrong with the old ecu?

I'd check the inside of both ecu's. Try them in another car and see if there good. Maybe there burning up for some reason.

You should be able to start it like that but I wouldn't drive it like that because of the different injector sizes. How much fuel pressure is there?

the fuel pressure regulator could be sticking causing it too flood out which could be why it started right away but then flooded out again. just a thought.

i had a problem like this once. After you shut it off and it wont start again are u sure that you are getting injector pulse. Thats what this one would do start run fine till shut off then no injector pulse after. also maybe your regulator is stuck open....

We figured it out. it finally fired up with a bang and realized we were pushing 10 pounds of rat shit out of the exhaust. It looks like the car took a shit. Plugged exhaust will cause a car to not fire. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm rat poooooooo.
