I see many threads saying a fpr is highly recommended for installing a 255lph pump, but is it also recommended to install a fpr if I would re-wire my 190?
No it's not totally needed. I would still rewire your fuel pump. What's your mods and future plans?

This is what I have done engine; 3 angle valve job, port and polish intake and exhaust ports, revised lifters, 8:1 ceramic coated pistons, chrome moly piston rings, balance shafts eliminated, ARP head, rod, and main studs, high flow water pump, 264 ex. cam, crower titanium retainers.
Drivetrain; lightened flywheel from slowboy, ACT 2100, short throw shifter
Turbo; evo 3 16g w/ port and polish 02 housing
Intake; 3" hard pipe, 2G MAF w/ Injen filter
Exhaust; port 2G man. 3" mandrel bent stainless downpipe and exhaust w/ test pipe
Fuel; Walbro 190 (soon to be re-wired), 550cc injectors w/ ported fuel rail
Intercooler; FMIC w/ 2.5" piping, XS BOV
That should be it, planning on getting a fpr and possibly dsmlink after my diagnostics port gets fixed. Mainly just turning up the boost after that and getting a new clutch when needed.
Its not necessary, but I would highly suggest it.
Running an aftermarket pump on the stock regulator can cause it to go bad as well as mess with your fuel trims making any tune inaccurate.
Just remember, its not about what you can get away with. Its about doing things the correct way. This is why so many DSMs break down. DSMers are cheap and cut corners in every possible way, trying to get away with as much as possible. Someday they will learn!
Good luck.
