ok so i put my motor tgether and hav had it run 4 about 40min and its been running great. al of a sudden theres a knocking noise in the valve cover or head area. just was wondering if anyone else experience this. i was thinking either an oil squirter is plugged or the valves are hittn the piston.

you mean a hydrolic lifter? and i hope not !!!! do you have oil pressure(did you when you first fired it up), if it was a rebuilt motor you should prime it before you fire it!

again buy mine!!!!!!!

good luck!

You could try driving it in a low gear at a higher rpm to force higher oil pressure through it. I've done that to a couple stubborn cars. But make sure it is indeed a lifter.

how do i prime the system?

is it a rebuild?

dont drive if you dont know your oil pressure!
is it a knock or a tick????? you could take valve cover off!

you prime a engine if it was rebuilt, to get oil to the crank(before you start it)
otherwise you may tare bearings up.

I think you may have your answer right there.
Could be a Valve hitting piston, Bad spring, bent valve....
Try running a thick oil. Some times that gets rid of the Tick.
